PILATES AT BALNARRING PHYSIOTHERAPY

Balnarring Physiotherapy offers Pilates as an integral component of a treatment plan in small groups of five participants. This means you will receive one-on-one attention and a personal experience.

Pilates is a form of strength and flexibility training suitable for people at any level of fitness and is suitable for all ages. It is focused on building strength without bulk, improving flexibility and agility, and helping to prevent injury. Pilates is particularly beneficial for those with back pain, poor postures, sports injuries, arthritis, stress related illness and before and after pregnancy.

Our program partners with well known Peninsula based Pilates instructor Janette Bendle. Janette has developed a reputation over several years for client focused instruction drawing on the latest techniques.

The benefits of a well designed pilates program are well documented however we believe it is very important a patient is properly assessed prior to commencing pilates. The outcome for participants is a balanced body which is strong and supple, flat stomach, balanced legs, and a strong back.

Classes are conducted at Balnarring Physiotherapy  at a cost of $20 per session. Bookings are essential so please contact Wendy to reserve a place or for further information call Balnarring Physiotherapy on (03) 5983 1021 or via email: balphysio@bigpond.com

You will Feel the Difference.

THE HISTORY OF PILATES
The father of Pilates was Joseph H. Pilates, a German who came to believe that the "modern" life-style, bad posture, and inefficient breathing lay at the roots of poor health.

He ultimately devised a series of exercises and training-techniques and engineered all the equipment, specifications and tuning required to teach his methods properly.

In 1925 Pilates migrated to the United States of America and with wife founded a studio in New York City and directly taught and supervised their students well into the 1960s. In particular, Pilates exercises teach awareness of breath and of alignment of the spine, and strengthen the deep torso and abdominal muscles.

Joseph Pilates died in 1967 at the age of 87 but his teachings live on today as Pilates has become one of the most popular and effective treatment techniques to strengthens core muscles, improve muscle control, flexibility, coordination, strength and tone, as well as alignment and breathing.
