Preventing Online Stress for Children
Good Posture at the Computer
1. Position your mouse in a level and easy to reach position that does not require you to reach forward. Maintain an even, symmetrical shoulder blade position.
2. Avoid slumping in your seat, focus on sitting tall with a straight back
• Think long neck with shoulders relaxed
3. Your eyes should be level and focused two inches from the top of your screen
• If your screen is too high this will effect your posture as you will stretch to maintain a good view
4. Remain active – if you are using the computer for long periods get up and walk about every hour
5. Position any reference materials close to the screen rather than off to one side
• Looking to one side repeatedly is one of the biggest causes of neck strain among computer users
